A violent rape ignites a furnace of racism in a small Southern town. Even as the local Sheriff (Lee Marvin) tries to keep order, A young black man (O.J. Simpson) stands accused of the horrible crime, and the justice system is only interested in seeing him punished, with or without a trial.
