When an out-of-work Vaudevillian finds he can no longer afford to care for his partner who just happens to be a dancing squirrel named Rupert, he releases the extraordinary animal in a local park. Rupert does not adapt well to life in the wild, so he secretly takes shelter in the home of the Amendola family who are also down on their luck. But their hard times begin to change when Rupert moves in!
