This 1928 silent comedy is based on the successful play by Eden Philpotts and stars Jameson Thomas as widowed farmer Samuel Sweetland. With the support of his devoted housekeeper Araminta Dench and hilarious handyman Churdles Ash, the lonely farmer muddles through his daily routines. It is only after his daughter’s wedding that he realizes how empty his life has become and decides to remarry. When Sweetland’s search for a new wife proves disastrous, he suddenly discovers that Araminta has been secretly in love with him all along.
