This DVD showcases Don Pà o Leiva, Cuba’s Foremost Montunero with his band LOS MENTOROSOS feat. THE CHICKI CHAKA GIRLS and CARRIBEAN STORM. This living legend of Cuban music is a master of all situations. With his ambling walk, his unique personal style, and his incredible charisma, when he starts to improvise while demonstrating the innate creative ability that is the hallmark of every good Cuban sonero, it doesn’t matter whether he’s singing a son, a guaguancó, or a tango. It inevitably comes out with the delightful intensity and naturalness that only one person can muster: Don Pà o Leiva. Ever since he launched his career as a professional singer with the "Conjunto Caribe" of Juanito Blez back in 1920, preceded by work as a bongo player at a very tender age, his voice – with its unique flavor – become one of the most important in that "golden age" of big bands. Alongside figures like Benny Moré, Compay Segundo, Roberto Faz, La Aragón, Arcano y Sus Maravillas, la Riverside, and el Conjunto Casino de la Playa, he won himself a permanent place in the pantheon of greats of Cuban music. Now, together with these young musicians and his band Los Mentirosos (The liars), he has continued to reap successes. Despite his 88 years, he has masterfully interpreted musical gems such as "Francisco Guayabal", the bolero "Cuando Ya No Me Quieras", and many other sons including "El Cuarto de Tula" and "Anabacoa".
