Some classic new titles to the FlixFling library share a common thread – they all take classic novels and bring them to life on screen.  Read more about these great stories below:

Anna Karenina (1948)

Our first example is Julien Duvivier’s 1948 version of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina.  In this take on the classic novel, the title role is played by the beautiful Vivien Leigh and boasts, in the opinion of many, one of her best performances.  This British adaptation of Anna Karenina also features Ralph Richardson, Kieron Moore and Mary Kerridge.  Read more & watch.

Animal Farm

Our second novel on film is the 1954 animated adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.  This BAFTA Award nominated film was Britain’s first full-length animated feature and remains true to Orwell’s pointed satire.  Read more & watch.

Alice in Wonderland – Triple Feature

Our third classic novel gets triple treatment.  We have three very different on-screen treatments of Lewis Carroll’s children’s fantasy Alice in Wonderland.  The trio, with release dates ranging from 1949 – 1972, features a wide range of talent including Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Peter Sellers, Michael Crawford, Fiona Fullerton and more.  The films also use everything from stop-motion to musical numbers in their telling of the classic tale.
