Based on the thrilling tale by Daphne du Maurier, this pirate adventure stars the legendary Charles Laughton as Sir Humphrey Pengallan, the corrupt squire of a British coastal village. Pengallan is also the leader of a gang of high seas bandits who lure ships onto the rocks with false signals, plunder the cargo, and murder the passengers and crew. Mary Yelland arrives at Jamaica Inn to visit her Aunt Patience and her aunt’s husband, Joss Merlyn, but the young woman soon discovers the lodging house is actually the headquarters of the ruthless marauders.
