30 Dec Happy New Year!

The Best of 2015

Ring in the New Year with the best movies of 2015! We’ve compiled a list of FlixFling’s most watched films and the past year’s must-sees. First on the list is the post-apocalyptic action packed Fury Road, which is fourth in George Miller’s Mad Max series. Viewers cannot get enough of this movie’s surprises, narrative, or energy. With all of its award nominations this year, it’s definitely not a coincidence. Continuing the post-apocalyptic trend comes the Epic Pictures film, Turbo Kid. Any 80’s action film fan will enjoy the nostalgic tribute of old school gore and entertainment this has to offer. Next is the action thriller that follows the story of an LAPD officer that heads to Mexico to face a group of corrupt cops. The story line may sound cliché in a “bad cop, good cop” way, but the surprises along the way keep users intrigued.  Of course the much talked about, American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller made the list. FlixFling users could not get enough of this movie and if you haven’t seen the true story of an American hero, we highly recommend it. Speaking of true stories, our most watched documentary of the year is The Wolfpack from Magnolia Pictures. It’s been apart of many “Best Documentaries of 2015” lists and we can see why! This film allows you to take a step inside the lives of six brothers who were raised in almost complete isolation as they educate themselves on the outside world through the power of movies. Another must-see from Magnolia Pictures is the transgender story, Tangerine. The fact that it was shot fully on an iPhone camera alone has created enough buzz and fascination for our viewers to check it out, not to mention rave about it from beginning to end. Another favorite to make the list is the sci-fi film from A24, Ex Machina. Breakout star, Alicia Vikander who is nominated as “Best Supporting Actress” steals the spotlight as the A.I. better known as Ava. She represents the power of human intervention in technology and the ethical complications it creates, taking this film beyond its surface. Also taking her role to the next level is Olivia Wilde in the Cinedigm film, Meadowland. She connects with her character as a grieving mother who is coping with the loss of her son by portraying overwhelming pain and sadness in a way that no one has seen before. On the opposite end of the spectrum, another FlixFling favorite is the family adventure film, The Games Maker. Viewers especially enjoyed the fantasy world of a young boy’s love for board games with their families during this holiday season.  With one more holiday left in the year, now is the perfect chance to grab the popcorn and gather around with the family! With so many choices of different movies on the list, no one will be disappointed as 2015 comes to an end. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for FlixFling next year!
