Adapted from a Noel Coward play, this silent drama tells the heart-wrenching story of Larita Filton who is married to an alcoholic but falls in love with a struggling artist. When her husband exposes her infidelity, she rejects her lover who then kills himself. Grief stricken, Larita divorces her husband, changes her identity, and travels abroad to forget her troubles. She meets another man, wealthy John Whittaker, and they are soon wed. Larita’s tribulations are far from over as her new husband’s pompous family delves into her background,discovers her shady past, and forces John to divorce her.
