In 1775, Daniel Boone is one of the first pioneers to explore Kentucky. His dream is to lead his family and a band of settlers into the wilderness in order to carve out a new home and open a gateway to the West. Despite extreme hardships, they begin to build Fort Boonesborough, but a handful of British redcoats and an unhinged French renegade, Simon Girty, have other ideas! They impede progress by inciting a tribe of Shawnee Indians to attack the settlers. While defending the fort, coonskin-capped frontiersman Boone must find a way to convince the Shawnee chief Blackfish that the pioneers only want peace and friendship with the Shawnee people.
