03 Jun This Month on FlixFling
June is finally here! What better way to end a long hot day than with a night full of movies? We’ve chosen some of our newest releases for this week’s FridayFlix pick. First on the list is Race, the story of Jesse Owens’ journey to the 1936 Olympics in Nazi occupied Germany. Thankfully Race doesn’t simply document Owen’s life from birth to death, but instead provides only the details you’d hope for. Stephan James impressively plays the lead role as Owens and leaves viewers inspired. Next we have the controversial documentary from Katie Couric, Under the Gun, which takes an in-depth look at the national gun debate. While politicians are finding this subject to be very difficult to deal with, people are faced with gun violence every day. This film allows viewers to take a look through the lens of those impacted by mass shootings. If you’re looking for something on the lighter side, check out the action comedy with included bonus features, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Set in 19th century England, a zombie outbreak has occurred and no one is safe. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy have to swallow their pride to conquer them all. Lastly, the Russian mob blackmails a group of dirty cops, which leads to an action packed film of greed and revenge in Triple 9. Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Woody Harrelson star in John Hillcoat’s movie as they use their exceptional military skills for corrupt reasons instead of helping those in danger. With so many new titles in the start of June, we can only imagine what’s to come!
