13 May Stay on the Path

This week’s FridayFlix pick is the horror film, The Forest, which is inspired by the rumors of the second most popular suicide spot in the world. After finding out about her twin sister Jess’ disappearance in Japan, Sara (Natalie Dormer) leaves America in hopes of finding her using her “twin senses”. Once Sara arrives in Japan she’s informed that her sister was last seen going into the legendary Aokigahara Forest, better known as “the suicide forest” for the many troubled people who kill themselves there each year. After being warned numerous times not to go into the forest alone, an American man, Aiden (Taylor Kinney), and the local guide, Michi (Yukiyoshi Ozawa), offer to help Sara find her sister. As they look for Jess, viewers catch glimpses of the haunting and horrifying spirits that still linger in the forest, as well as flashbacks of Sara’s troubling family history that has a large affect on her search. For those of you looking for a psychological thriller full of demons and ghosts this weekend then The Forest is for you!
