“Design for Peace” The atomic bomb is detonated, and its effects demonstrated at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Following the resulting devastation, the Japanese surrender, and their diplomats and military officials sign the official documents aboard the USS Missouri. U.S. armed forces are welcomed home by family and friends, marching in one last parade in honor of their efforts abroad.
