24 Jun It Takes Courage

Best known for the Transformers trilogy, director Michael Bay, tells the true story of six elite, ex-military operators who fought back against overwhelming odds in this week’s FridayFlix pick, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The story takes place on September 11, 2012 when Islamic militants killed four Americans in Benghazi, Libya. Former Navy SEALs, Tyrone Woods (James Badge Dale) and Jack Silva (John Krasinski), are hired to protect U.S. operatives and diplomats located in a dangerous compound. During the Islamic attack, the six men must use their military skills to save the lives of the remaining Americans.

During the 144-minute runtime, viewers can expect to see mostly action. There are plenty of scenes full of explosions, firearms, and shootouts that may come as no surprise to you if you keep in mind the director of the film. Bay tends to focus his attention more so on machines than actual people. For those viewers who are specifically looking for a movie that emphasizes the chaos of war and fighting rather than a military storyline, 13 Hours is perfect for you this weekend.
