Jobless Dave, ex-member of pop group “The Smart Alecs”, meets Erica, attractive young American, seeking fame in Show business. She has an audition at the Brighton Hippodrome with Stage Director Artie, currently rehearsing for a new Extravaganza for impresario Hilton Bass, starring Arties girlfriend Wanda. Ricky and Phil, Dave’s friends and ex ‘Smart Alec’s’, miss the pop scene. Their apathy to work earns them the sack as stewards on the Brighton Belle. They land up broke at ‘Seaview’.
