Behind The Music

This week, FlixFling’s Friday Flix pick celebrates the art of collaboration in music. The music documentary, The Wrecking Crew, offers insight into those who’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes to write, compose, and record some of the most famous songs of the 1960s and 70s. Affectionately called “The Wrecking Crew” for their unusual and uninhibited style, the group was comprised of about 20 odd musicians, many of who are unknown to the general public. Director Denny Tedesco, son of the late, great Wrecking Crew member, Tommy Tedesco, crafts the film into a heartfelt piece of nostalgia. Tedesco’s work comes from an admirable place as he aims to honor those who often go unnoticed. Peppering the story with interviews from Cher, Dick Clark, Nancy Sinatra, and members of the original crew, he effectively conveys the complexities of the music-making process and pays homage to those who helped shape the rock and roll culture. The Wrecking Crew is a fitting tribute to such talent and is a treat for movie and music lovers, alike.
