Die-hard fans rejoice, Nicolas Cage is back.

In Rage, action film favorite Nicolas Cage takes on the familiar, yet gripping role of Paul Maguire, a former Mafioso turned legitimate businessman. Paul’s carefully cultivated life as a loving husband and father is thrown off balance when his teenage daughter is mysteriously murdered. Suspecting the involvement of a Russian rival gang, Maguire rounds up his old crew and sets out for revenge.

What ensues is an all-out war in which loyalties are tested and people are pushed to their limits. As the brooding protagonist with a conscience to clear, Cage is truly in his element. His troubled, gun-toting portrayal of Maguire demonstrates his talent for this genre. Rage is peppered with thrilling car chases and slow-motion fight sequences, yet beyond these motifs lie deeper themes of guilt and repentance. Highlighted by Cage’s character and his destructive actions, these themes distinguish Rage from the average, run-of-the-mill summer blockbuster.
